Prep Girls Soccer Roundup: Poway High makes it nine straight without a loss

Share

The Poway High girls soccer team has not lost since early December and it kept the streak going through the first game of Palomar League play.

Sarah Aragon scored the lone goal of the game and the Titans edged visiting Mt. Carmel 1-0 Wednesday in the league opener for both schools.

It was the second straight win for Poway (8-2-1, 1-0) and it was the ninth consecutive game the Titans have played without losing.

Poway struggled to a 6-13-3 finish last season and went just 2-6-2 in league play. But the Titans’ young roster has turned it around this year and appear to be up to the task of challenging for a league title.

Rancho Bernardo 3, Canyon Crest Academy 3

Rancho Bernardo scored all three of its goals in the second half, while the Ravens got one in the first half and two in the final stanza.

Amanda Roy, Samantha Lee and Madison Samilo each scored for the Broncos. Rancho Bernardo has had three straight draws and are looking for its first win since a 5-2 victory over Rancho Buena Vista on Jan. 7.

The Broncos will be back at it again Friday at Westview at 5:15 p.m.

Avocado East League

Mackenzie Brennan posted 10 saves, but Del Norte could not push a goal across and settled for a 0-0 draw against San Marcos in the Avocado East League opener for both schools.

The Nighthawks had eight corners, but could not convert. It was the second straight game Del Norte has had to settle for a tie. The Nighthawks are looking for their first win since beating Oceanside 6-2 on Jan. 7.

Del Norte will be at Mission Hills Friday at 5:15 p.m.
