Reserve your Rancho Bernardo Pathway of Pride plaque by July 10

Share

Time is winding down to get a commemorative plaque installed before this year’s Pathway of Pride ceremony.

Friday, July 10 is the deadline to purchase the $1,000 plaques from the Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation. A plaque can commemorate a loved one, celebrate an event, advertise a business or be anonymous. For details, contact Dave Brooks at davebrooks@san.rr.com.

The pathway, established in 1993, is a fundraiser for the foundation’s annual community grants program and the Rancho Bernardo Community Endowment. It now has nearly 300 plaques lining the sidewalk that winds through the park.

This year’s ceremony to unveil the new plaques will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Webb Park.

Brooks said each plaque represents a donation of $1,000 to the foundation and most of the amount is invested in the endowment for the benefit of the community. Previous grant recipients include the Ed Brown Center for Active Adults, Rancho Bernardo High School Library, Rancho Bernardo Veterans Memorial Association and Rancho Bernardo Historical Society.

The endowment, established in 1988, now exceeds $1.4 million.
