Prep Wrestling: Poway High’s Doyle breaks school record at state

Share

Poway High senior Colt Doyle pinned his first two opponents at the CIF State Wrestling Championships to break the school record for most consecutive wins with 47.

The 160-pound Doyle, who is striving for his second straight state championship, is a win away from reaching the quarterfinals. He is now 42-0 this year. He won his last five matches en route to the state championship last year.

Doyle’s 47 straight wins broke the record of Todd Schavrien, who had 46 straight victories in 2005-2006. Continue to check Pomeradonews.com for state wrestling updates and/or follow sports editor Michael Bower on Twitter @michaelpbower.
