Detectives: Progress slow on fatal Poway shooting

Share

The lead investigator into Sunday’s fatal shooting on Frame Road said Wednesday he’s still not sure exactly what happened.

Sheriff’s Lt. John Maryon said the investigation is taking longer than usual due to a combination of conflicting statements from witnesses and the fact that alcohol was being consumed at the time. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning and more interviews were planned, he said.

Deputies responded to a 1:35 a.m. Sunday call to a home on the 13400 block of Frame Road find Chris Alan Jewell, 43, dead in the back yard and Seth Warner Ladabouche, 41, shot and wounded inside. Both were reportedly shot in the upper body. Ladabouche was treated at a local hospital then released to detectives for questioning.

Maryon said the home was the residence of Ladabouche and that he and Jewell were friends. Two females were also present at the time of the incident he said. A handgun was recovered at the scene but it’s still not clear who fired how many shots, Maryon said.
