Rancho Bernardo’s Chalk It Up contest winners
Rancho Bernardans put their artistic skills on display during the fifth annual Chalk It Up sidewalk chalk art contest on May 2 in Rancho Bernardo Community Park.
Due to a large number of preschool-age participants, a new award category was added by the Rancho Bernardo Community Council, which put on the free event that had 197 entrants.
All entrants received a free T-shirt, a reusable tote bag from Albertsons and free item coupons to Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt and Chick-fil-A Carmel Mountain Ranch. The age-division winners were awarded additional prizes. They were:
Preschool — first place to Aria Conover, second to Ashley Vandervort and third to Kiley King.
Elementary — first place to Lauren Mascardo, second to Katie Chang and a third place tie between Jaelynn Wiggins and Presley Smith.
Middle School — first place to Bailey Donnelly, second place to Jenni Wiggins and a third place tie between Bailey Clapsaddle and Irman Tallman.
High School — first place to Gracie Horne and second place to Ethan Nogola.
Adult — first place to John Horne, second place to Alice Chang and a third place tie between Nina Mascardo and Brad Gill.
Seniors — first place to Sam Lehler, second place to Susan Ruttenberg and third place to Fran Viele.
The Special Category award went to a team of teenagers, Emerson Bowles and Rowan Smith.
