Locally-produced wines will be featured during the annual San Diego County Vintners Association Wine & Food Festival next month.

It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo del Verano Norte, Rancho Bernardo. In addition to the wines and food offered, there will be educational winemaking and food demonstrations, a silent auction and live music. This is a 21 and older event.

Tickets are $50 if purchased in advance and $65 at the event for unlimited wine tasting and a selection of gourmet foods. Designated driver tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the event for the food tasting and bottled water. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1321676.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit the San Diego County wine industry to support educational seminars and marketing for all SDCVA member wineries and vineyards, organizers said.

Those bringing wines to the festival will be Altipiano Vineyard & Winery, Beach House Winery, Bernardo Winery, Blue-Merle Winery, Cordiano Winery, Coyote Oaks Vineyards, Domaine Artefact Vineyard & Winery, Hellanback Ranch Winery, Highland Hills Winery, Highland Valley Vineyards, Hungry Hawk Vineyards & Winery, Little Oaks Winery, Old Coach Vineyards & Winery, Ramona Ranch Winery, San Pasqual Winery, Shadow Mountain Vineyards & Winery, Vinavanti Urban Winery, Witch Creek Winery, Woof’n Rose Winery and Wyatt Oaks Winery.

“California winemaking began right here in San Diego County,” said Linda McWilliams, SDCVA president and owner of San Pasqual Winery. “With more than 100 wineries in our county now, San Diego is fast becoming a premier destination for wine lovers.

“This is the perfect opportunity for local residents to discover and support their local wineries,” McWilliams said.

The 20-year-old San Diego County Vintners Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the San Diego viticulture and winemaking community, organizers said. The group also wants to educate local wine enthusiasts and embrace sustainable agricultural practices in the county.
