Prep Baseball: Connors powers Nighthawks past Grizzlies

Adam Connors went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs and Grayson Rollins allowed just one run in five innings, as the Del Norte High baseball team beat first-place Mission Hills 5-1 Tuesday in an Avocado East League game.

The Nighthawks have won four of their last five and will play the second of a three-game set against Mission Hills Thursday at 3 p.m. at Del Norte High School. The Nighthawks (10-12, 5-4) are two games behind the Grizzlies and a game behind Escondido.

Connors’ two home runs were his first and second of the season. He upped his batting average to .377. He now has 14 RBIs and 20 hits for Del Norte. Rollins allowed four hits, while walking five and striking out five to get the win.

Grant Hylton tossed the final two innings, striking out two and allowing just one hit.
