Prep Baseball: Nevin named Palomar League Player of the Year

Share

Tyler Nevin continues to soar up MLB draft boards and this piece of news he recently received won’t slow that down.

The Poway High senior third baseman was named the Palomar League Player of the Year after hitting .422 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in the regular season. He led the Titans to a 10-5 record and a third-place finish in the Palomar League. Poway is 17-12 overall.

Nevin, who signed with UCLA, is expected to be a high pick in the MLB Draft in June. He could go as high as the first round. The smooth fielder, who missed his entire junior season after having Tommy John surgery, is the 87th best prospect, according to Baseball America.

Poway will find out its seed in the Division I playoffs Saturday morning.
