Prep Baseball Roundup: Titans stay alive; Nighthawks fall to losers bracket

The Poway High baseball team stayed alive in the San Diego Section Division I playoffs with a n 8-5 win over Helix in an elimination game Friday at Poway High School.

The sixth-seeded Titans will face the loser of Friday’s game between No. 3 Rancho Buena Vista and No. 2 La Jolla Country Day on Saturday at 11 a.m. Poway will be traveling no matter which team it plays.

Tyler Nevin and Kevin Bristow both homered in the win for the Titans. Nevin, who is expected to be a high pick in the upcoming MLB Draft, and Bristow each have five home runs this season now.

DIVISION III

Second-seeded Fallbrook got a walk-off single through a drawn-in infield to beat No. 3 Del Norte 4-3 Friday in the second round of the San Diego Section Division III playoffs.

The Nighthawks fall to the losers bracket and will host either No. 11 Coronado or No. 10 Valley Center Saturday at 11 a.m. Coronado and Valley Center were slated to play an elimination game Friday.
