This year, the Poway Unified School District has 71 high school students who are National Merit Scholarship finalists.

The National Merit Scholarship program is an academic scholarship administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Each finalist submits a detailed scholarship application, which includes essays and information about extracurricular achievement, awards, and leadership positions.

Finalists must also have an outstanding academic record, be endorsed and recommended by a school official and earn SAT scores that confirm their qualifying PSAT test performance.
