Naked runner nabbed by CHP

Share

A runner made it three miles down Interstate 15 with no shoes on - or any other clothing - before the California Highway Patrol pulled him over Saturday.

Plenty of motorists called 911 about 1:35 p.m. to report the naked man making his way south from about Rancho Bernardo Road in Rancho Bernardo, CHP Officer Mary Bailey said.

“He had no shoes on, nothing on,” Bailey said. She said the man might be in his early 30s.

One CHP officer caught up to the man and followed him until a second officer got into position to help stop him. Bailey said their concern was that he might have been under the influence of a drug that would make him violent.

But the two officers got him stopped and in custody without a struggle near Carmel Mountain Road by about 1:55 p.m. He was taken to a hospital for a psychological evaluation, Bailey said.
