Catholic churches offering fish dinners on Lent Fridays
The Knights of Columbus at the three local Roman Catholic parishes will serve up fish dinners each week during Lent, starting this Friday. All are welcome.
The dinners at San Rafael, St. Michael’s and St. Gabriel’s will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 19 and 26, plus March 4, 11 and 18.
The Knights at San Rafael Parish in Rancho Bernardo will hold their dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit seminarians and religious vocations, scholarships and charitable organizations the Knights support.
In addition to on-site dining, the Knights offer take-out. They will serve batter fried cod plus another baked fish, fries, coleslaw, mixed green salad, rolls and ice cream.
Tickets for adults (13 and older) are $12. Children (ages 4 to 12) are $5 and those 3 and younger are free. There is also a family ticket (two adults plus children ages 4 to 12) for $30. Golden Tickets are for those who will attend all six dinners. They are $45 for adults, $25 for children and $120 for families.
They will also be weekly raffles. The grand prizes are an Acer 8-inch tablet, Panasonic ZS40 camera, Dom Perignon champagne, 40-inch television, Samsung Galaxy tablet and Las Vegas accommodations.

The Knights at St. Michael’s in Poway will begin their fish bake dinners at 5:30 p.m. Their all-you-can-eat menu includes baked fish, fish tacos, gourmet clam chowder, cheese biscuits, vegetables, dessert plus macaroni and cheese for children.
Tickets are $8, with children 6 and under admitted for $4. The dinners will be in St. Michael’s Holy Family Center, 15410 Pomerado Road. Call 858-487-4755.
The Knights at St. Gabriel’s in Poway will hold their fish dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. Fish tacos or baked fish with a vegetable, macaroni and cheese, fries and dessert are on the menu.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for children under age 12. The dinner will be in St. Gabriel’s CCD building, 13734 Twin Peaks Road. Call 858-748-5348.
