Rancho Bernardo’s chalk art contest returns May 7
The event has been cancelled due to wet conditions. It will be rescheduled.
Those of all ages are invited to show their creativity on Saturday by participating in Rancho Bernardo’s sixth annual Chalk It Up sidewalk chalk contest.
The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7 in Rancho Bernardo Community Park, 18448 W. Bernardo Drive. It is organized by the Rancho Bernardo Community Council.
A bucket of chalk will be provided to entrants, who will receive a goodie bag upon completion of their entry. Each entrant will be assigned a sidewalk square upon which they can create their design.
Prizes will be awarded in six age categories — preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, adults and seniors. There will also be an overall contest winner. The prizes will be gift certificates to local businesses, ranging from $15 to $50 in value. All entrants can also enjoy free refreshments provided throughout the day.
Even if not creating a sidewalk picture, the community is invited to view the artistic endeavors while they remain on the park’s sidewalks. For questions, send an email to RBCommCouncil@aol.com.
