Oppose StoneRidge owner

The community has been bamboozled. I am a resident of StoneRidge. The new ownership has not aggressively tried to increase membership or remodel the property to increase revenue.

The article from the May 19 News Chieftain clearly shows the intent of the owner. I recommend that everyone in the area join against the expansion.

Seven Oaks woes

The recent letters of complaints about Seven Oaks are not atypical. In the 10 years that I’ve been living at Seven Oaks, I’ve found too many do-nothing board members, power-hungry bullies, and cronyism.

We’re now on our third president in the past four months’ time, who can be reached only by remote through our management company’s Phoenix, AZ email. Yes, we are reminded that they are volunteers, but if they are looking to be mere window dressing, they should not be “volunteers” on the board.

We pay $345 per month for our HOA dues. I get my water and garbage pickup for that price. Other than a concrete courtyard, parked cars and a few condos, I have no other view whatsoever. Yes, we get financial reports, but without access to substantiating invoices and contracts, these reports are worthless. A few years ago, I wanted to audit the books but was told I’d have to pay $50 hour to view records that I already own – and the manager told me he would have to let me know when these books might be available to me.

Nobody likes regulations, but with all the ongoing problems at Seven Oaks, and I hear them frequently from members from the various clusters, it’s time we had some government agencies look into the current Seven Oaks modus operandi – including its books. We cannot trust the board’s hand-picked auditors.

Tree ruling wrong

The CC&R Committee has ordered a tree in Seven Oaks to be cut down to comply with the CC&Rs. The tree is 50 years old. Included in this view complaint are three palm trees in the resident’s front yard.

I did not see any view distractions at all caused by any of the trees.

I have six Aleppo pine trees on my Seven Oaks property, two of them planted in 1980. In 2011, I was sternly ordered by the CC&R Committee to cut both trees back to the height of the house. I refused. I was appalled by the manner in which this CC&R group ordered me around.

I did my research. All trees planted prior to July 1981 are not subject to the current tree height restriction because there were no tree height restrictions anywhere in prior to July 1981. The 2011 CC&R Committee waived the complaint and grandfathered in my trees per paragraph 43 in the CC&Rs.

The CC&R Committee should comply with the law and reverse their decision on the current tree issue.

Any Seven Oaks residents who have had trees grandfathered in by CC&R Committee, please contact me.
