Share

Dalton Soffer scored 23 points and Matt Beeler added 12, as the Poway High boys basketball team won its fourth straight with a 67-63 victory over visiting Canyon Crest Academy Wednesday night in a Palomar League game.

The Titans (16-9, 5-2) will try to keep Torrey Pines from clinching at least a share of the league title Friday, when the two collide at 7 p.m. at Torrey Pines. The Falcons, currently No. 1 in the San Diego Section Division I Power Rankings, are 24-7 overall and 7-0 in league.

Poway is No. 14 in the Division I power rankings. The top eight will play in the Open Division playoffs and the next 16 will play in Division I. That currently puts the Titans as the No. 6 seed, if the playoffs started today.

Rancho Bernardo 51, Westview 47

J.J. Overton finished with a game-high 18 points and Michael Langford added 13, as the Broncos posted their second straight victory.

Rancho Bernardo is trying to hang on to earning a first-round bye in the San Diego Section Division III playoffs. The Broncos are currently No. 4 in the power rankings with Valhalla No. 1, El Cajon Valley No. 2 and Coronado No. 3.

Rancho Bernardo will face Mt. Carmel Friday and then close the regular season at Torrey Pines and home against Poway.
